Modern double glazing by design uses many sliding studs, latches and moving mechanisms. These can include quite complex shoot bolt systems, or espagnolette stud system that lock the door or window at multi-points within the frame. When one of these mechanisms warps, breaks or wears it can prevent the unit closing properly.

This can make the double glazed unit or UPVC door ineffective for draught exclusion and create a potential security flaw within the property.

All types of window locks/handles can be repaired - Espag window handles which are the type used on UPVC windows which use a multi-point locking system, usually a shoot bolt system, or espagnolette stud system; Cockspur window handles where the handle itself locks by the cockspur part of the window handle slotting into the receiver part of the fitting; and any other modern latching/locking design.
